Vacation 3: Angahuan and the Volcano Paricutín

Angahuan and the Volcano Paricutín
In the 1940’s the volcano Paricutín began erupting in a farmer’s field about an hour outside of Uruapan. The eruptions stopped in the 1950´s and the volcano is now dormant, but lava flows from the volcano partially covered the San Juan Parangaricutiro Church. You can now visit the church and climb on the church and the surround lava rocks.

To get to the volcano and the church, you can take a bus into the town of Angahuan, a small near-by community.
